Day 11/180: Adventure Aquarium

I have a headache.  But we had free teacher appreciation admission.  Adventure Aquarium = summer camp field trip madness.  I would prefer calm, relaxing aquarium to Adventure Aquarium.  But, where else can we experience aquatic creatures from around the world first hand, for free?  Some photos.

I no longer have a headache!  Yay!  It's much later (like the next day).  To finish up Adventure Aquarium day, we had our weekly picnic in the park with bike and scooter riding practice.  Jane's biking is improving!  We took the training wheels back off after our camping adventure, and she continued practicing her balance while coasting down a gentle, grassy slope.

Then, scooter time, which turned into Jane can skateboard! time.

Yay!

Then, ukulele time, of course.  On Monday, we started a new ukulele book, Essential Elements Ukulele Method - Book 2 (The Ukulele Ensemble Series).

It's a huge improvement of the last book (Alfred's Teach Yourself Ukulele)!  Goodbye, Hava Nagila!  The new book "is more interactive".  And, we'd had enough of the lady on the DVD that came with the other book.  The new book seems to follow a much more logical sequence.  We've already learned some new strum patterns, one new chord, figured out chords for two short songs, and learned about tablature for the first time.
Chord Challenge!

Tablature quiz!

At reading time, Jane and I decided Harry Potter was getting too intense.  We're pausing before continuing Book 7.  We started Little Women, and both agree that it makes a much better bedtime story than the end of HP Book 6 and the beginning of Book 7.  Goodbye Death Eaters, hello Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy.

  1. Other than the moray eel pic I liked 'em all. Don't want to see any morays snorkeling in Baha :)
