Day 13/180: Isabel, Jewel of Castilla, Tubing, Science, and Theater!

Saturday was a big day.  Beginning with a long car ride, reading Isabel: Jewel of Castilla, Spain 1466 (The Royal Diaries).

We drove through Amish country, which is always interesting.

And, arrived at our tubing destination, Sickman's Mill.  Yay!  Learning about rivers!

After tubing and a picnic, we headed for the Lancaster Science Factory (which is reciprocal with the very affordable Great Valley Nature Center membership).  It was excellent.

Physics

Pulleys

"Magnets are awesome."

Dams, water pressure, etc.

Levers

Magnets + pendulums

Spirograph!

Very cool, drop a bowling ball, push air through a tube, launch a tennis ball to the ceiling.

Home again for sandwiches, then some culture.  Free theater in the park by the Commonwealth Classic Theater Company.  This year's show was Tartuffe by Moliere, written in 1660s France, set in the 1980s.  It was banned by Louis XIV because it was deemed to critical to the Catholic Church.  Subversive!  Yay!  My one photo does not do it justice.  Excellent show.
